Zipping to Tumwater

I have to go to Tumwater tomorrow for work.  I looked into the Undriving options: I could spend 4 hours taking 4 buses and the Sounder commuter train to get there (and another 4 hours to get back).  If I use my bike for some of those bus connections, I might be able to shave off a little time – but finding reasonable bike routes in the unfamiliar suburbs is not something I want to try when I have to be somewhere on time.  I could bike the whole way on the Interurban Trail – but that would take 7 hours and 16 minutes each way.  There are probably a lot of other people going to this event from Seattle, but I have no way of connecting with anyone to carpool.  So my best choice: take a Zipcar.  There’s a nice little Mazda right at the end of my block – I reserved it on line last night, so tomorrow morning I’ll just wave my card across the windshield, hop in and drive away. I should be there in an hour and a half.

I can’t really call that Undriving – but because of Zipcar I don’t keep an extra car parked in front of my house, and since I have to plan ahead in order to drive, I usually find it easier to bike, bus or walk.
